Poker strategies to raise your chances of winning
Principles winning players follow
Playing Poker without knowing what to do puts you at high risk of losing money. Study the principles below and change the way you play —
- Use position — Being close to the dealer button means you act last, giving you a better chance to make winning decisions.
- Tight hand selection — You need to be willing to fold bad cards. Only choose to call with pocket pairs or suited connectors.
- Match pot odds — Every time you put money in, calculate whether the pot odds justify it before deciding.
- Bluff — but carefully — A bluff only works when you can read your opponent well. The more you bluff, the more your opponents will call.
- Control tilt — Playing angry after a small loss makes things worse. Staying calm is the best strategy.
